Bluff

This little town is 'World Famous' in New Zeland for a number of reasons, I will mention a few of them here.
Bluff is the southern most town at the tip of the South Island.
The shipping service to Stewart Island runs from here.
The Tiwai Point aluminium smelter is on the eastern side of Bluff Harbour.
It is also the southern-most railway station in the world.
A few years ago the "Kingston Flyer" used to run betwen here and Invercargill.
The home of the famous 'Bluff oysters".
We have to remember Fred and Myrtle and their Paua shell house.

In 1824, a sailor, James Spencer set up a trading post for whalers.
Now days it is a base for the fishing fleet that harvest the rich Foveaux Strait, for groper, crayfish, blue cod and the Bluff oysters.
